CHANGE OF DATE:
High School Cheer Meeting, Friday, March 4 During WIN in the Middle School Band Room. 8th-Grade Students interested in trying out for the Norris Cheer team next year should check-in with their WIN teachers first, and then report to the Band Room ASAP for an informational meeting about The High School Cheer Team.
HS Cheer Team Tryouts:
There will be a Cheer Clinic on Monday, March 14th from 6:30am-8:00am for new cheerleaders in the HS Wrestling Deck. You will learn the basics of cheer in preparation of tryouts (motions, jumps, and kicks). Cost is $10 and sign up using this link: Cheer Clinic.
-Tryout Information Meeting will be on March 16th at 5:30pm in the HS Library
-Cheer Tryout Practices will be held March 21st, 23rd, 24th, and 25th from 6:30-8:00am and 3:30-5:15pm in the HS Wrestling Deck.
-Tryouts will be on March 25th at 4:15pm

6th, 7th, 8th Grade Choir Concert - March 24, 2022 at 7PM. This concert may take place in the HS South Gym or HS Auditorium.
Colorguard Clinic Registration Sheets are available in the office and the Library. They need to be returned by March 18. Clinic March 21-25 after school. Check out this video to see what colorguard is.
AS THE WEATHER CHANGES WE NEED TO BE MINDFUL OF THE DRESS CODE AS INDICATED IN YOUR STUDENT HANDBOOK IN WHICH YOU SIGNED YOU HAVE READ (See Below as a reminder):
DRESS CODE AND GENERAL APPEARANCE
The following dress code has been implemented to maintain a learning environment for students at NMS that allows for individuality yet reflects dignity and respect for themselves, other students and the Norris Community. Good grooming and appearance are important. All students should take pride in their personal appearance. Any student whose appearance creates a distraction from the learning environment will be in violation of the dress code standard.
General Guidelines
1. Clothing cannot be too tight, too ragged, too bare or so extreme to be immodest.
2. Students are to maintain cleanliness and good grooming of hair.
3. Clothing cannot create a spectacle, interrupt classroom activities or embarrass others.
4. Clothing depicting pictures or works that may be offensive to others or considered objectionable will not be allowed.
Specific Guidelines
1. All coats, jackets and hats are to be placed in the locker and not worn in school. Book bags, purses, etc., are to be placed in the locker during the school day.
2. Shirts or blouses must cover the midriff at all times. All tank tops must have a shoulder strap on each shoulder. Each shoulder strap must be a minimum of 1” wide.
3. Mesh, sheer or see-through attire, or swimwear is not allowed.
4. Low cut, halter, backless or otherwise revealing tops are not allowed.
5. Under-shirts or other muscle-type shirts must be covered by an appropriate shirt.
6. Pajamas/leisure pants are not acceptable as school attire.
7. All shorts/dresses/skirts are to reach mid-thigh or longer.
8. Pants or shorts that are ragged with holes, frayed, worn or torn are not permitted.
9. Pants should not sag and the waist must remain above the hipbone.
10. Shoes with any type of wheels are prohibited.
11. Jewelry or other accessories with sharp edges that could be considered dangerous are prohibited.
12. Clothing that has words, statements or images relating to alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gangs, violent behavior, profanity, or anything sexually suggestive is prohibited.
13. Clothing or other articles worn on any part of the body that typically communicate gang activity or affiliation are prohibited. Examples of clothing or articles shall include, but not be limited to, scarves, bandannas, jewelry, headbands, caps, and hats.
14. Headwear including hats, caps, bandannas, sweatbands, stocking caps, do-rags, scarves and visors are not allowed. Sweatshirt hoods are not be worn over the head while in the building.
15. Sunglasses worn indoors are prohibited unless prescribed by a physician.
Students who violate the dress code standard will be asked to comply with the standard. They may be issued clothes that do comply, have ripped areas taped over, or change into something of their choice that complies. Students who refuse to comply will be excluded from class, or subject to further disciplinary action including possible detention or suspension.
CONGRATULATIONS, SHREK JR.CAST AND CHORUS MEMBERS!
The 7th and 8th Grade Musical, Shrek Jr., cast and chorus list is above! Just a reminder that the 8th grade choir has all the parts and the 7th grade choir is the musical chorus (7th grade choir will wear their choir t-shirts for the performances). 8th Grade Choir members will need to rent a Shrek Jr. costume. We will be getting costumes from Springfield, MO, and from Omaha, NE. Costume rental is $60 per person. You may make checks payable to Norris and may send them anytime. Please have your student give checks to us in choir. As always, please email wes.hansmeyer@nsdtitans.org if you need any financial assistance. We are glad to help.
Shrek Jr. Performances are May 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM (matinee) and 7:00 PM.
Tickets will be $10. We will let you know when they will be on sale.
DRESS REHEARSAL INFO: On May 12, 2022, we will be having an important dress rehearsal for all 7th and 8th grade choir members. This will begin during the last period of the day and finish by 6:30 PM.
If you are missing any valuable items such as Eyeglasses, jewelry, IPods, headphones, or Cellphones the office is always a good place to check.
QG Club (Board Games Club) will meet after school
on Monday in Mr. Kranz’s room.

Crochet Club 4th quarter project- Macrame plant hanger
Starting in the 4th quarter, the crochet club will be making macrame plant hangers. This can be done with many types of string or yarn, so you don’t have to use the recommended material if they are unavailable to you. We will begin March 16th. This is a great project for Mother’s Day!
Materials:
Macrame cord (3mm or 4 mm) or cotton yarn (it shouldn’t stretch too much or plants will slip through) plan for using at least 4-5 m’ of cord since the knots will use up most of the cord. Here is one option at Michaels
Macrame ring- I will have wooden rings available on first come first serve basis, otherwise this is an optional piece
Optional accessories: wooden or plastic beads (make sure the hole is large enough to fit the cord or yarn)

Chromebook charging tip: Sometimes your chromebook is in a sleep mode and is not charging, even when plugged in. Check to see that the small red light beside the charger is lit when plugged in. If not, open and hold the refresh button and power button together, then release to reset the chromebook. Then, plug the unit in and the red light
should appear indicating it is charging. You should always see the red light on either side near the back lit when charging.
Middle School College Savings Scholarship
Students who complete theEducationQuest Middle School College Savings Scholarship activity will be eligible to register for one of five $200 scholarships.
EducationQuest will randomly select one student winner on October 31, December 31, and February 28; two students will be selected on April 30.
To be eligible, a student must:
be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
be a middle school student attending a Nebraska school
complete and mail the scholarship entry form to EducationQuest between September 1 and April 30
EducationQuest will deposit the $200 scholarships into the winners’NEST 529 College Savings Plan account. Winners who do not have an account will need to set one up.
