Norris Board of Education Earns NASB Board of Excellence Award

The Norris School District 160 Board of Education was recognized for its commitment to effective school governance and continued professional learning by earning the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) Board of Excellence Award.

This year’s award was presented on August 25th, 2026, during the NASB Area Membership Meeting in Nebraska City.

The Board of Excellence Award recognizes boards whose members demonstrate a sustained commitment to professional development and strong governance practices. To qualify, boards must meet a number of criteria, including participation in NASB learning opportunities, representation at the annual NASB Delegate Assembly, completion of a board goal-setting retreat or work session focused on improved governance, and the accumulation of significant individual and collective professional development points.

In addition to the Board of Excellence recognition, three Norris Board of Education members were individually recognized for reaching significant levels within the NASB Board Member Awards program:

  • Aaron Wubbels earned the Level IV Award
  • Steph Meese earned the Level V Award
  • Gary Kubicek earned the Level VIII Award

These individual honors reflect continued participation in professional learning and leadership development opportunities related to the responsibilities of governing a public school district.

Norris School District 160 extends its appreciation to the entire Board of Education for the time, energy, and thoughtful leadership its members provide on behalf of students, staff, families, and the community. Their commitment extends beyond attending meetings and making decisions. Board members continue to invest in developing their own knowledge and leadership skills so they can better serve the district and make informed decisions about the future of Norris schools.

Congratulations to the Norris Board of Education and to Aaron Wubbels, Steph Meese, and Gary Kubicek on these well-deserved recognitions.
