Hometown: I grew up in Fairmont, Nebraska, where my parents still reside. I attended kindergarten through 7th grade at Fairmont Public Schools before they consolidated with Geneva to form Fillmore Central Public Schools, where I graduated from.
Education:
- I attended the University of Nebraska - Lincoln for my undergraduate degree. I earned a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education with a Natural Sciences endoresment. I had the privilege of participating in the University Honors Program and UCARE research programs through which I was able to identify and describe a new species of mammalian parasite as part of my undergraduate Honors Thesis while working in the Harold W. Manter Laboratory of Parasitology.
- I obtained my Master of Science in Biology from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. My field research and thesis involved studying cattail (Typha latifolia and Typha domingensis) pruning techniques in urban wetlands and subsequent recommendations for successful management and mitigation.
- I returned to the University of Nebraska at Kearneyto earn my Master of Arts in Educational Administration with a Secondary Principal endorsement.
Teaching and Administrative Experience:
- I taught high school science (astronomy, biology, anatomy & physiology, physical science, and Advanced Placement Biology) at Millard West High School in Omaha, NE. I was involved in developing the building's digital learning programs and piloting hardware, software, and one-to-one laptop initiatives for the district step-ahead program as well as serving as a member of the school improvement team and strategic plan action plan leader. I had the privilege of helping coach the MWHS Forensics team, served as the advisor for the MWHS Chapter of Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), helped supervise athletic events and announced for baseball.
- My first administrative position was as Assistant Principal at Russell Middle School in Millard Public Schools. RMS is a 6-8th grade building with 750+ students. I was responsible for implementation of all curriculum, supervised instruction, oversaw academic and behavioral interventions, and coordinated the building learning plan, including planning and development of all building professional development.
Family: My wife, Andrea, and I are very excited to be joining the Norris community. We have two sons, Daniel and Jacob, who are also excited to be future Titans and can't wait to start coming with dad to school events. Rounding out our family is our West Highland White Terrier, Rupert.
Hobbies: I love games (card, board, and video), biking, camping and being outside, but most of all I enjoy spending time with my family.
