Norris Athletic Boosters announce major Facilities Fund gift

The Norris Athletic Boosters have made an end of school-year donation of  $19,500 to the Norris Athletic Facilities fund for the future development of our athletic facilities such as an on-campus baseball complex and tennis courts.

“The donation was made possible by all of our loyal booster club members, the local businesses who have purchased advertising for the Fall, Spring and Winter athletic programs and finally parents who have put in the time to volunteer,” said Booster President Jim Kruger.

Athletic Director Greg Hardin said the fundraising reflected a multi-event approach that included “various Booster Club fundraising events such as the Fall kick-off event, buttons for parents of the athletes, the food events at the ballgames including Valentino’s and Culvers, and working at the concession stand for athletic events.”

The Norris Athletic Boosters club has now contributed $82,000 to the Norris Athletic Facilities Fund over the past three years, which has provided funding assistance for the new fitness training facility along with the gorgeous new Sprinturf installation and track resurfacing at Titans Stadium.  In addition, during the same timeframe the Booster club has awarded $8,500 in scholarships to eligible Norris student athletes to further their attainment of post-secondary education dreams by providing this crucial funding.

In a joint statement, the Boosters and AD Hardin offered special thanks to Kathleen and Chad Gustin, Dave Bryant, Mary Jean TeKolste and Becky Kruger for all the time and effort they have put into the Booster Club over the years in accruing these fundraising successes.

AD Hardin commented that “It is through the committed volunteerism of our Boosters and their leadership that we have been able to continue to provide outstanding support and programs to our Norris student athletes.” Kruger offered thanks to AD Greg Hardin and HS Secretary Patti Wieskamp for providing the Booster Club the opportunities and coordination to have our events which generated these funds.

Superintendent Dr. John Skretta stated that “The sustained impact of the Norris Athletic Boosters has been tremendous and is a credit to the volunteerism and servant leadership of its members and officers. We are grateful for this tremendous gift to Norris to benefit our student athletes and district.”
