Mimios at Norris Elementary
Norris Elementary School is excited to announce the addition of a Mimio in each PK-2 classroom throughout the 2016-17 school year. Mimios are roughly the size of a ruler and attach to an existing classroom whiteboard. The whiteboard then becomes an interactive learning tool, allowing students and the teacher to manipulate reading, math, science, and social studies curriculum. A side benefit is increased movement during the learning day, aiding in student engagement.
Norris Elementary already has six Mimios in use, predominantly in kindergarten. Mrs. Emeigh shared that, “The students learn patience. They all love it and cannot wait until it is their turn.” Mrs Addison echoed that with, “Students are eager to learn, and I'm excited to teach! We all get to have fun teaching and learning when interacting with the Mimio! It's a win, win!” Mrs. Delzell, a kindergarten teacher that has had her Mimio for three years now as part of a grant through the ESU6 stated, “This piece of technology is the most engaging and age appropriate tool I have in my classroom! I use it daily to work on the calendar wall, as well as to teach the reading curriculum. It is easy to use, keeps the lessons flowing quickly and efficiently, and most importantly, it allows my 5 and 6 year old students to interact with the curriculum. I would not want to teach without it.”
