The Norris School District has been named to the ALICAP insurance pool safety honor roll for 2015-16. The recognition is granted to the top 1/3 of ALICAP insurance consortium members for exemplifying a district-wide safety atmosphere. The Norris School District is recognized for making a daily commitment to safety and well-being of staff and students.

The district's Safety & Security Committee is chaired by Norris MS AP Matt Rice and meets quarterly. It includes law enforcement and first responder representatives as well as parent volunteers. The district committee oversees the safety trainings of staff, and extensively utilizes SafeSchools online training courses for employees, which feature 100% school-focused content, authored by experts. The district is annually audited by both ALICAP and an external expert safety consultant. The audits ensure compliance with state, federal and local requirements, and asssit districts to provide a safe and healthy workplace.

Recent safety and loss control initiatives in the district include the incorporation of security cameras in the newly renovated and expanded strength training and fitness center areas.
