Norris Foundation Seed Grant buys Arduinos
Norris Industrial Technology Department receives Norris Foundation SEED Grant
Recently the Norris Industrial Technology Department received a Norris Foundation SEED Grant for $600. The grant was used to buy 12 Arduino microcontroller boards and training kits. Students will be able to write code and assemble electrical circuits using the Arduino Boards.
Using the boards will allow students to sample what a career in computer programming might involve. Currently, the only coding classes available are through the SENCAP program that Norris is associated with. SENCAP allows students to enroll in classes taught through Southeast Community College. Currently, there is a great need for programmers.
The Arduinos use a code similar to C++. Students can write simple codes and then assembly an electrical circuit or download a more complicated code from the Arduino website to power electric motors or power an LCD board.
The purchase of the Arduinos us another tool for students at Norris to use with their chrome books the students were issued this year.
