Dr. Mike Lucas to address Norris Teachers January 4


York Superintendent Dr. Mike Lucas will provide the keynote speech to Norris faculty on the January 4th professional development day. Dr. Lucas‘s comments will provide a motivating kickoff to the 2019 year for the Norris team. A renowned storyteller and highly regarded Nebraska superintendent, and a longtime educator, Dr. Lucas is  respected by teachers, administrators and policymakers for his candor, genuineness, and sincere passion for educational excellence for all. 


Dr. Lucas is in his 25th year as a career educator.  He taught 3rd grade and coached high school football and basketball from 1994-1998 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas after receiving his BS in Elementary Education from Benedictine College in Atchison, KS.  He then served as K-8 principal in Labette County, KS before moving to West Point, NE from 2000-2003 to serve as Migrant Education Director and K-6 Principal.  Mike served as superintendent and high school principal in Franklin, NE before going to York as their superintendent in 2009.
 
Mike is originally from Florida.  He and his wife have two daughters, two sons, and one son-in-law.
