End of the year check-in procedures

Norris has developed a schedule for when students and families may return to campus organized by alpha using the first letter of each student's last name to pick-up of personal items and check-in of school items such as Chromebooks, instructional materials, and other school-owned resources.  We ask that each family only come to campus during the time assigned to them.  We would also request that as few members of the family as possible report to campus and enter our schools.  If the assigned time does not work for your family, you will need to wait until after Friday, May 29, 2020 to receive additional information on alternative dates and times.  We are unable to develop an alternative plan until we know how many families we will need to accommodate.

In providing an opportunity for students and families to report back to campus for pick-up and check-in, we plan to follow public health recommendations.  This is why we have divided up times to return to campus by alpha to ensure smaller group sizes.  We will also ask any student or parent entering one of our schools to wear a face covering consistent with CDC recommendations for public settings and practice social distancing by standing at least six feet away from anyone else outside of your immediate family group.

It’s hard to believe the school year will be ending in a few weeks. It has been a different fourth quarter than anyone would have anticipated just a few months ago.  We sincerely thank you for your patience, flexibility, and positivity.  The Norris community has shown its true colors by coming together in such an incredible way during this unprecedented time.  We will continue to get through this together.  Please stay safe and healthy.   Go Titans!

Chromebook Return:
Families that have checked out a Chromebook during the extended school closure and graduating seniors will need to return their device and charger/power cord during this time.  Enter through the main entrance doors on the east side of the high school.  We request that Chromebooks be returned charged so that the members of our technology team can quickly check to see that the device is in working order upon return.  If you are aware of any damage or have lost your device/charger, we ask that you proactively email support@nsdtitans.org so that we can coordinate any fees and repair costs before the return/check-in process begins.  All returned devices will be inspected for damages and parents will be notified of repair costs.

Additional Information for Seniors Checking in Chromebooks: (High School Check-in Procedures and Map quick reference guide)
Complete this senior Chromebook check-in survey. Seniors, this should be your first stop in the checkout process. Seniors that are purchasing their device will pay for the device at this station. After payment, the Chromebook will be removed from the management system, and we will assist you in factory resetting your device.  For seniors checking in their device (not purchasing), they will need to return both the Chromebook and power cord/charger.  The device should be fully charged and it will be checked to ensure it is in working order and in acceptable condition. Any fines for damages will need to be paid prior to senior checkout.

Elementary School:
Designated family/adult representatives must wear a mask.  Student items will be labeled by the child’s first and last name and organized by grade level (preschool, kindergarten, first, and second grade) and teacher name. The designated family/adult representative will enter the Elementary building through the front door and will follow a designated loop to pick up student items.  No more than 10 people will be allowed to enter at a time, and you will be able to gather items for another family if requested by that family.

Intermediate School:
Designated family/adult representatives must wear a mask.  Entrance to the building will occur through the main door only.   We will allow a maximum of 10 people in the building at one time.  While waiting to enter, please respect the six foot social distancing requirements.  All student items will be organized in the commons area.  Student items will be grouped by the classroom teacher in alphabetical order with student names clearly written on each bag.  Items from a shared locker that teachers could not identify will also be marked with both students’ names.  Books that have been checked out from classroom teachers may be left in the area next to the classroom items to be picked up.  Books that have been checked out from the library may be left on a cart in the front entrance.

Middle School:
A student or designated adult may enter through the main entrance only. We will only allow a maximum of 10 people in the building at one time. Everyone must wear a mask to enter the building. Please wait to enter and respect the six foot social distancing requirements. Students need to return all library books, classroom books, and school materials and gather any items still left in their locker.  There will be a table in the commons with bags that can be used to gather student materials from lockers.  All lockers need to be completely cleaned out.  Anything remaining in lockers after the pickup days will either be donated or discarded.  Trash cans will be available in the hallways.  Tables and carts will be out in the commons labeled with class and teacher names for students to place items being returned.

High School: (High School Check-in Procedures and Map quick reference guide)
A student, or designated adult, will enter via the West doors by the counselor’s office unless returning a Chromebook in which case they may enter the East doors.  Students will need to return all library books, classroom books, equipment, athletic equipment, materials, etc. to the appropriate teacher and/or sponsor.  All items must be bagged/rubber-banded/boxed together, by teacher/sponsors, and labeled with both the teacher’s/sponsors and the student’s names.  If items are not labeled, teachers may not be able to identify who they were checked out to and students may be assessed fines for missing items.  Tables will be set up in the main hallway with teachers’ names for you to drop off labeled items.  Library books do not need to be labeled and there will be a designated library book return bin.  Grocery bags, labeled and organized by last name, for any items that teachers need to return to students will be in the main hallway.  All lockers (athletic and academic) will need to be completely emptied.   Anything remaining in lockers after the pickup days will be donated or discarded.  Trash cans will be available in the locker hallways.  Students and adults will be restricted to the main hallway and locker areas only.  Checks for fines/fees may be dropped off in the office.  Please call the school or email Patti Wieskamp (patti.wieskmap@nsdtitans.org) in advance to determine any fine amount.  There will be additional specific checkout information communicated to seniors and their families.  The high school may limit the number of people in the building so please limit visitors to the students or one adult per family.  You may have another family or student drop off/pick up materials at your discretion.  Face masks will be required to be worn for entry to the building and a minimum of six feet of physical separation is expected at all times.
