Titans Suffer Second Loss of Season

Titans Suffer Second Loss of Season

Tuesday, April 6, 2010
Gretna just came off a big win against highly ranked class A Elkhorn on Monday, April 5th.  The Norris lady Titans had a game with Gretna on Tuesday.  Both teams will be in need of rest on Wednesday to face their Thursday opponents. The Titans came out shooting hard and fast in the first 10 minutes of the match with great shots by senior Rachel Hansen and Jordan Funk.  The Titans held Gretna to only 9 shots in the first half, but it only took one shot in the 13th minute to make a difference.  Center midfielder Hannah Dittmer hit a low hard driven shot through a crowd at the top of the 18 box and caught Norris junior goal keeper Ashley Schroeder out of position for the save.  This would be the only goal of the half and eventually the only goal of the night."What I am most proud of these young ladies tonight is that they kept their composure throughout the match.  They stayed patient and resolved to get a ball in the back of the net," stated coach Myers.  "Defensively we played well and we created more opportunities for ourselves offensively because of the great team effort defensively.  We missed some shot opportunities, but we'll go back to practice tomorrow and work on some the gap issues we had before our match against Plattsmouth on Thursday. This group of girls just continues to get better with each match."   In the second half of play, both team only got four shots off. However, Gretna had at least 3 corner kicks in the second half.  Junior goal keeper Ashley Schroeder had 17 saves for the match.  The Titans drop to 5-2 on the season, while Gretna remains undefeated and ranked 2nd in class B at 6-0.
