Titan Wrestlers Bring Home 3 State Medals

The Titan Wrestling team traveled to Omaha to compete in the 2012 Nebraska High School State Wrestling Championships. In Thursday's first round at #106 Clayton Cobb earned a pin over Austin Olsen of Minden, then at #126 Taylon Lienemann earned a pin over Robert Miller of Gretna, not to be outdone #285 John Stajner also recorded a pin over Jacob Beck of Blair. Later Thursday morning Cobb earned an 8-1 decision over Mitchell Spiegel of Gothenburg in the quarterfinals. Lienemann dropped a 6-1 decision to Richard Yanez of Holdredge will Stajner was pinned by eventual State Champion Garret Johns of Aurora. Lienemann and Stajner each battled hard in the wrestlebacks. Leinemann defeated defending State Champion Christian Barry of Hastings Adam Central then followed that up with a 4-1 decision over Jacob Greenwood of Friday night to guarantee a medal. Stajner scored a pin over Rolando Trevino of York and the a 3-0 decision of Thomas Machal of Gretna to earn his medal. Friday night also saw Cobb get a second period pin over Brian Peska of Omaha Skutt Catholic to reach the Saturday finals. Saturday morning Lienemann dropped decisions to Skyler Teten of Syracuse and Bryce Rolenc of Seward to finish 6th and a final record of 32-11. Stajner earned a 5-1 decision over JB Barnett of Fairbury in the consolation semi finals before falling by pin to Dane Ehlers of Gothenburg in the consolation finals match. During the tourney Stajner broke his own school record by recording his 29th pin on the season. Cobb faced Tyshawn Williams of Boys Town in Saturdays final battled hard but came up on the short side of a 5-2 decision. During the tourney Cobb tied the school record with his 41st win. Thanks to all the parents and fans that supported the team at the state tourney and throughout the season.
