The Syracuse Invitational was held yesterday, April 14th with 8 schools participating in the meet.  Team results are as follows:1st  Beatrice 154 points,  2nd Crete  92, 3rd  NORRIS 80, 4th Fairbury 74, 5th  Syracuse 70 , 6th  Lincoln Christian 24,  7th Falls City 17, and 8th Nebraska City  15Norris individual results:Discus:  2nd  Niki McKinstry 2nd 117' 1, 6th  Felicia TeKolste 101'4', and Michaela Woodward 87'2"Shot Put:  5th Felicia TeKolste 32'8.5", Niki McKinstry 32'2", and Kelsey Huenink 31'9"Long Jump:  6th Holly Schurman 15'3.5", Ellie Ehman 13'7", and Leah Burbach 14'4"Triple Jump:  6th 31'10'  Andrea Jameson, Holly Schurman 28'6"High Jump:  Andrea Jameson 4'4", Hannah Hoefler 4'4", and Ellie Ehmen 4'2'Pole Vault:  Tie for 5th place between Cassie Eilers and Erin Bartlett 8'0", and Anna Bizal 7'6"100m HH:  !st Gretchen Kroese  17.8,  5th Maddie Larson 17.8, and Mackie Allen 18.5100m Dash:  5th   Gretchen Kroese 13.61 (Prel. 13.31)  , Hannah Olsen 7th in finals 14.0  (Prel.- 13.70),  Hannah Blythe  Prelims-13.71200m Dash:  Hannah Olsen  29.71,  Hannah Blythe 29.80, and Krista Baade 30.0400m Dash:  Marisa Mosiman 1:07.5, Dani Pelini 1:08.2, and Hannah Hoefler 1:08.4800m Run:  2nd Kelly DeBoer 2:38.5, 4th Ashley Weyers 2:39.9, and Amber Weyers 2:46.01600m Run:  4th Sophia Sonnenberg 5;57.0, Ashley Weyers 6:12.08, and Meradith Ganow 6:22.53200m Run:  1st (Personal Record) 12:21.8, Meradith Ganow 14:30.0400m Relay:  54.6  Dani Pelini, Hannah Blythe, Hannah Olsen, and Gretchen Kroese1600m Relay 4th 4:32.5  Ashley Weyers, Dani Pelini, Marisa Mosiman, and Kelly DeBoer3200m Relay:  1st 10:34.7  Ashley Weyers, Sophia Sonnenberg, Meadith Ganow, and Kelly DeBoerWe were glad to get this meet in today with inclement weather threatening all day, as it was it turned out pretty good with only a short rain shower occuring during the women's 1600m relay.  It was nice to have several of our athletes with us who did not get to compete due to other activities last week, even though we had a couple of girls involved with the music contest and were gone today.  Maybe one of these days we will have everyone available to compete on the same day, I am surely waiting for that to finally happen.We had some really nice performances today, one of the best was probably from Sophomore Sophia Sonnenberg who took first by taking 19 seconds off of her previous best in the 3200m run from the week before.  It was fun to watch that event being run because her competitor Logan Sieck from Crete is also very competitive.  I am sure that those two will be competitors in meets to come, they are both very good competitors.Also, our throwers had a good day today in the shot and in the discus.  Niki McKinstry, Felicia TeKolste, and first year Senior Kelsey Huenink did a really good job.  The shot and discus events have tough competitiors from both Beatrice and Fairbury.Leah Burbuch strained her quad during the long jump and had to pull out of the triple jump, losing some points there, but Freshmen Andrea Jameson jumped her personal best today and took a 6th place finish, which served to help us out in that event.Our 3200m relay team took 6 seconds off our season's best time so far and came home with a first place finish, the girls ran some good times in that race as a team effort.It was also nice to have Senior Gretchen Kroese competing today, as she placed first in the 100m hurdles and came home with medals in her other 3 events.The reserves will be traveling to Plattsmouth on Monday and the varsity squad will be competing at York on Thursday,(April 21) meet time 12:30.  This meet has been changed from a Saturday due to Easter this year.
