Wednesday, May 7, 2014

Norris Superintendent Dr. John Skretta spoke this week as an invited panelist for a national task force sponsored by the American Association of School Administrators to address competitive foods policies in schools, sharing resources and addressing roadblocks to positive change in promoting children’s health and nutrition in schools.

Dr. Skretta spoke on a panel titled “Presenting the Case and Making Change Happen” where he was joined by Jeff Smith, an Arizona Superintendent, and Leslie Fowler, Nutrition Services Director for the Chicago Public Schools. The meeting was hosted at the Chicago Public Schools Food Service Facility.

The Foods Policy Initiative meeting of national stakeholders was supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Leadership for Healthy Communities and facilitated by the Child Nutrition initiative of AASA.  The initiative is part of AASA Children's Programs department, which supports strong school system leadership to improve the lives of children.
