Norris TeamMates Honored at Appreciation Luncheon
Over thirty Norris TeamMates mentors and board were honored at an appreciation luncheon at the Norris Middle School. Each person received a package of M&M with a note, “Much and Many Thanks for all you do, we really appreciate you.” Each mentor also received a thank you note from their mentee. In October, Norris TeamMates became a Gallup Strengths Chapter. Mentors and mentees completed the Gallup Strengths survey to discover what they naturally do best. This information is used by mentors when meeting with their mentee to help them reach their potential. Members of the “strengths team” shared the positive impact of the training on talking with their mentees. Mentors shared what mentoring means to them and activities ideas. While mentees really enjoy the opportunity to have an adult spending time with them one-to-one, a common theme is that mentors feel they get more out of mentoring than mentees. Mary Ann Franken,Teammates coordinator, along with Mary Jean TeKolste and Rhonda Burbach arranged the celebration. Meeting with students does make a difference for each student. We are always looking for new mentors. If you would like more information about mentoring, contact Mary Ann Franken at the Norris Intermediate School office or go to TeamMates.org.
