The Norris School district had 3 booths representing the latest in technology integration in education at the NASB (Nebraska Association of School Board’s) Technology Showcase held at the Papillion La-Vista conference center in Omaha on Friday, November 17th, 2017.

Bekka Forsman and several of her second-grade students demonstrated using Clever Badges and Symbaloo for K-2 students to easily login and access online resources on Chromebooks.  This process makes it very easy to integrate technologies into the elementary classrooms and decreases the amount of class time to log in and access student resources. Mr. Jason Gault, Technology Integrationist for the Norris School District, was instrumental in working with staff to implement the Clever tools across the district. Mr. Gault has recently integrated the Clever login process with standardized testing so students are seamlessly logged into the system increasing securing and saving time.

Jason Cullison and several Norris Middle School Students demonstrated using low-cost tools to develop a Middle school news broadcast. Mr. Cullison’s classes have been developing several broadcasts each month focusing on a variety of topics and news. This project has been a fun and educational process for students in his classes.

Kristyn Jones and several of her  Introduction to Agriscience class students demonstrated how they use the Adobe Spark Tools to create agricultural business plans. Adobe Spark is an easy way to make anything more creative and interactive.

These new technologies and projects offer engagement activities and real-world experiences to students throughout the Norris District.  As Noel Erskine, Director of Technology at Norris Schools states, “We are blessed with a staff that utilizes technology in a positive way to impact the educational process of our students at Norris..”  There are a lot of technologies used daily within the classes at Norris, but these teachers and students are sharing with school board members from around the state. The Nebraska Association of School Board’s Technology Showcase is a one-day event held during the School Board Association’s annual conference.  members get a chance to interact with staff and students and bring back ideas to their home districts.
