Norris School District announces Veterans Day observances for 2017

Veterans Day 2017 Norris Activities include:

Norris Elementary School: Observing on 11/10/17 at 9am with an all school assembly. The Elementary will be singing/performing patriotic songs and recognizing veterans by branch. Elementary will then recognize students who have a sibling or parent that is a veteran.

Norris Intermediate School:  Observing on 11/10/17.  8:45-9:15 am will host a small reception for students with a sibling or parent who are current or past military. Students will have lessons on the meanings of the words Allegiance, Sacrifice and Patriotism.  Each grade will have speakers who are veterans from the area.  5th grade will present the Quilt of Valor to a recognized Veteran from a local Legion Post.  

Norris Middle School: Will be observed Monday November 13th through a speech to student body from Senator Roy Baker, District 30 Nebraska state senator.

Norris High School: Curriculum activities celebrating Americanism and Veterans Day during IAP (9:30 AM). Social Studies department facilitates a video and discussion prompts after video for school wide  exposure to the Veteran’s Day material.

Norris School District recognition: Veterans Hospitality reception (coffee, cookies): Friday November 10th 2-3 PM Veterans reception (open to all Norris area Vets) w/Student Council Ambassadors, district and board representative greeting Vets.  Advance registration requested via RSVP to Kim Brodersen at kim.brodersen@nsdtitans.org or 402-791-0000 by Wednesday, November 8.
