Norris Girls Third at Waverly Holiday Tournament

The Lady Titans finished as the consolation winners at the Waverly Holiday Tournament.  Norris lost their first round game to South Sioux City 60 – 53, but came back the following day to defeat Omaha Gross 53 – 22.            Against South Sioux City the girls came up just a little bit short in the end.  In the first quarter SSC outscored Norris 12-10.  In the second quarter Norris went cold from the field as SSC really got hot.  SSC outscored Norris 19-12 to take a 31-22 lead into halftime.   In the third quarter Norris came out determined to get back into the game and that they did by outscoring SSC 20-14 and only trailed by three points going into the final quarter.  Norris had several opportunities and closed the score to within one point late in the quarter, but then went cold from the free throw line and saw SSC go on for the win.Norris Scoring:                        Ashley Schroeder 11, Jessica Taylor 10, Sam Areman 9, Tori Simpson 9,                                    Felicia Tekolste 8, Alix Bryant 2, Ashley Weyers 2, Kasey Hohlen 2Rebounds:                   Schroeder 6, Bucher 4, Areman 4, Taylor 3, Tekolste 2, Simpson 2Steals:                          Areman 3, Mathers 2, Taylor 2, Schroeder 2Assists:                         Areman 3, Schroeder 3,            In the consolation game against Omaha Gross the Lady Titans started strong and never let Omaha Gross get back into the game.  In the first quarter Norris outscored Gross 15-6 and this gave the Lady Titans a lot of confidence for the rest of the game.  In the second quarter Norris continued to play tough defense allowing Omaha Gross only 6 points and led at halftime 26-12.  Norris started out strong in the second half the way they started the game by outscoring Omaha Gross 13-5.  Norris outscored Gross again in the final quarter 14-5 for a 53-22 win.  The girls played good defense allowing only eight made field goals for the game.  On the other hand Norris was able to make 16 field goals along with five 3 point goals.             Norris is now 5-3 on the season and will host Beatrice on Tuesday night January 4th with the JV game starting at 4:30 and Varsity game starting at 6:00.Norris Scoring:                        Felicia Tekolste 18, Sam Areman 12, Tori Simpson 11, Bridget Bucher 6,                                    Kasey Hohlen 4, Ashley Schroeder 2Rebounds:                   Tekolste 7, Bucher 6, Schroeder 5, Weyers 3, Hohlen 3, Areman 2Steals:                          Schroeder 3, Tekolste 3, Areman 3Assists:                         Areman 3, Tekolste 2
