Norris Girls beat Pius X 59-43
Norris hosted Pius X in the final regular season game prior to the holiday break on Tuesday. Norris jumped out to an early 11-2 lead to start the game. Pius X came back strong to finish the quarter by outscoring Norris to lead 14-13 going into the second quarter. During the second quarter Norris really found their rhythm on offense. After Pius X went to a zone Norris connected on six three point baskets in the quarter on their way to outscore Pius 20 – 6 to take a 33-20 half time lead. The third quarter has been a rough quarter for Norris this year, but he girls were convinced that tonight they would turn that around. Norris came out and started the second half the way they finished the first half with a strong offensive showing. Norris connected on three more three point baskets and outscored Pius X 18-5. Going into the final quarter Norris led 52-25 only to see Pius get hot from behind the three point line and score four three pointers themselves. Pius outscored Norris in the final quarter but Norris still held the advantage in the end winning 59-43. Norris connected on 12 three point baskets in the game setting a new Class B state record for three point baskets made in a game. Scoring the three point baskets for Norris were Sam Areman with 4, Alix Bryant with 3, Jessica Taylor with 3, Tori Simpson with 1 and Ashley Schroeder with 1. Norris and Pius X combined for 19 three point baskets setting a state record for three point baskets by both teams in a game. Norris will now face South Sioux City in the first round of the Waverly Holiday Tournament on December 28th @ 3:45.
