The game had 1 minute and 49 seconds left in the first half of play when it got called because of lightning, and after 2 delays, the two teams called it a night. The rule states that when a game is called in the first half of play, teams must pick up the game from where it left off.   It was a strange 1:49 half with neither team getting any shots on goal.  "It's hard to establish any kind of rythm in that short of time.  The officials were only going to give us 2 minutes for halftime, but both coach Wood and I argued for more.  In soccer there are no time outs so we wanted to make sure our girls knew what kind of game plan we wanted for them," said Coach Myers.  With a short 5 minute halftime, both teams came out hard, knowing there was only a 40 minute half to score.  Shooting was even with the Titans shooting 9 times on frame to Elkhorn South's 8 shots.  Niether team could score. "It was a physical 2nd half.  Three Elkhorn South players went down with injuries at different times in the half.  I think the physicality of play frustrated them.  I told the team at the end of regulation that it would come down to keeping composure and continuing to work together.  The defensive line made up of Morgan Braun, Bailey Nutter, Alix Bryant and Jessie Taylor played as a united line and moved well together. Their communication was great and they made little adjustments that made a huge difference.  Seniors Sam Areman, Alex Mathers and Maddie MacDonald kept the game at the tempo the Titans wanted to play through the midfield," stated coach Myers. In overtime, niether team was able to score so the match went into a shoot out.  Norris was first to shoot with senior Sam Areman leading the way.  She scored the first goal of the shoot out.  Elkhorn South's Nicole Beer shot wide on her PK.  Sophomore, midfielder Brittany Funk shot the next PK for the Titans and drilled it past the Storm's goal keeper Jordan Thiem.   Senior goal keeper Ashley Schroeder would come up in a big way, she saved the next three Storm attempts at PK's.  The Titans would miss two of their own PK's.  The final score of the shoot out was 2 goals to 0.  Scoring states that the Lady Titans won the match 1-0.  The #9 Titans are now 8-4 and their record ties #6 rated Elkhorn  South's.  The Titans take on a very tough Waverly team next Tuesday night at home on the football field.  Game time is 5:00 p.m.
