Norris:   0   1   0   0   = 1Pius:        0   1   1    2   = 4 Norris (5-10) took on Pius (9-6)  in the semi-finals of the B-1 District soccer tournament on Tuesday night, May 1st.  The Titans had played just the night before defeating Nebraska City 2-1 in regulation time.In the first half of play, it was a defensive battle.  Although Pius out shot the Titans 13-2,  both teams came up scoreless at halftime.  "The team played fantastic.  It was such a better played game than the night before.  The girls were focused and determined to keep Pius scoreless.  I was really proud of how they kept their composure and how physical they played," stated Coach Myers. In the second half, Pius scored first, just 5 minutes into the new half.  Pius was awarded a corner kick and junior Kelly Engstrom sent a ball into the 6 box that teammate Amber Johnson got her head on.  In the 75th minute left in regulation time, the Titans were also awarded a corner.  Junior Brittany Funk sent in a ball to the back of the box that senior defender Alli Ganow got her body on and finished in the back of the net.  "Alli and Brittany have been working hard all season to make that connection, and tonight it couldn't have happened at a better time, " exclaimed Coach Myers. In the first 10 minute over time, Pius scored just 34 seconds into the new period on a hard shot by Bridget Hansen that lofted over the outstretched hands of Norris goal keeper Brooke Wohlers.  "That was a tough goal.  Brooke had battled incredibly hard in goal all night, making tremendous saves and getting knocked around pretty good.  However, she and her teammates did not give up," said Myers. In the second overtime, the Titans continued to play hard, however, the Bolts were able to score 2 more times.  In the 93rd minute, Emily Arrigo was able to get between two Norris defenders to score.  In the 98th minute Bridget Hansen got on the end of a deflected shot that bounced off the far post and caught goal keeper Brooke Wholers and her defenders out of position.  "There's nothing you can do on those types of shots, Bridget was in the right place at the right time.  I  could not be more proud of the Lady Titan Soccer team.  They played hard until the final second," said Coach Myers.
