Lady Titans Soccer Lose Season Opener

Norris   =   1   0      =  1Gretna  =   2   3      =  5The Norris Lady Titans soccer team opened their season Monday night against preseason, number 2 class B ranked Gretna Dragons.  In the first half of play, the Dragons scored on a lofted ball by Gretna's Audra Keehn.  Just 12 minutes later, the Titans got on the scoreboard after a tough defensive effort by junior midfielder Brittany Funk.  She was getting tackled in the 6 box and passed the ball into the box where senior Lacy Mueller got ahold of it and scored.  Gretna was able to get another goal before halftime.  The shot was off a beautifully placed cross to the far post that Hannah DeRouchey headed into goal.  "I am always impressed with Gretna's set plays," said Coach Myers.  "They execute these with ease and seem to have a person on the end of every attempt, even if they miss the first shot, there is always someone there to get the rebound."In the second half of play, the Titans found themselves playing defense and could not get any offense generated.  Gretna, was able to score 3 goals.  In the 74th minute of play, sophomore Jordan Patt had a handball in the penalty box which resulted in a penalty kick for Gretna.  The Titans were outshot 25-1.  Sophomore goalkeeper Kasey Hohlen had 22 saves on the night.
