Norris:               1                         0               = 1Elkhorn:            0                          2              =  2The lady Titan soccer team took their 2nd road trip of 3 this week to Elkhorn High Thursday night.  The 6th rated Titans took on 2nd ranked Elkhorn, in what would be a physical and exciting match between the two teams. The Titans had an opportunity to make history by defeating Elkhorn for the first time in the history of the program.   The Titans got on the scoreboard first in the 20th minute when sophomore Brittany Funk sent a corner kick directly to goal and senior midfielder Alex Mathers got her head on the ball and finished the shot into goal.  "The first half was excellent.  I felt we controlled the pace of the game and had plenty of shot opportunities.  The girls were connecting passes and defending as a unit.  I knew that with a one point lead so early in the game, it would be hard to keep Elkhorn from scoring for 60 more minutes of the match," state coach Myers. In the 2nd half of play, Elkhorn came out fast and strong as expected.   The Titans lost some momentum but hung together defensively.  "Elkhorn got us out of our game plan, but the girls hung in there.  Elkhorn picked up their pace and took more shots on goal than we did. Once we settled down, we played better," said Myers.  With just 10:40 left on the clock, Elkhorn was able to cross a ball to across the field  to junior Crystal Foster who caught the defensive line out of position and Norris goal keeper Ashley Schroeder out of goal.  She struck a hard shot to the farpost past Schroeder who came out to smother the ball.  Just 2 minutes later, and nearly the same way, Foster got past our defensive line and caught the Titan keeper off her goal line again.  With four minutes in left in the game, the Titans made several attempts to score but to no avail.  The Titans drop to 2-2 and travel to Lincoln Pius X on Saturday, April 2nd.  They take on undefeated and top 10 contender Waverly on Monday, April 4th.In the junior varsity match, the Titans fell to the Antlers, 0-1.
