A Grateful Nation
A Grateful Nation
November 11, 1918 is the date that marked the end of World War I. One year later Armistice Day was created to commemorate the end of WWI. It was not until 1926 that Congress passed a resolution to make November 11th a national holiday known as Veterans Day designated to honor all veterans and their service. Norris Elementary celebrated this patriotic day by hosting a number of local veterans and family members with an assembly.
Joined by the local Cub Scout troop who presented the colors and the high school band who played the Star Spangled Banner, elementary students did a tremendous job honoring the day and veterans by singing a number of patriotic songs such as: See the Veterans (2nd grade), Thank You, Veterans (kindergarten), and The Star Spangled Banner (1st grade).
The musical culmination was at the end of the program with the Armed Forces Medley where all present veterans were asked to stand and be recognized, and all of the students came together to perform A Grateful Nation and issue a heartfelt thank you to all of our community veterans for their service.
...Norris Elementary wants to thank all veterans near and far for their service.
