In a match-up between 6th rated class A Elkhorn and the 6th rated class B Titans of Norris, the Titans would suffer their first loss of the season, 3-0.It was a hard faught  battle for 80 minutes of play.  In the first half, the Titans held the Antlers to just one score that occured in the 11th minute by senior forward Sally Larson, who got one by junior goal keeper Ashley Schroder. The Antlers out-shot the Titans 9-2 in that half.In the second half, the Titans continued to put up a strong defensive battle but  could not generate any offense, as Elkhorn's defenders kept the likes of Rachel Hansen and Samantha Areman scoreless.  In the 51st minute, Elkhorn midfielder Cat Cox hit a high lofting ball from above the 18 box just out of the outstretched hands of Schroeder.  "We had some great looks at the goal in the second half, " stated Coach Janet Myers, " we had a couple of set plays that we did not capitalize on.  The girls played extremely hard for 80 minutes.  Elkhorn is just that good. The entire team is fast and fit this early in the season."  Sally Larson scored her second goal of the night in the 67th minute when she beat goal keeper Schroeder coming out of the 6 box, hitting a low driven shot past her."We always take away something when we play Elkhorn.  We know we will play them better later in the season if we get a chance.  We have to work out some deficites that we have on the field. Tonight really showed us where those are and where we are at right now in this point of the season," said Coach Myers.  The Titans out shot the Antlers 9-4 in the second half. The Lady Titans have two matches the week of March 29th.  They play Crete on Tuesday at Doane College (6:15, 8:00) and have their first home match on Thursday against Conestoga at 5:00 p.m.
