Brittany Hajek has been named the assistant principal of Norris Elementary - Intermediate Schools and will begin summer, 2017. Brittany will directly serve the principals of both buildings, Dr. Jenny Piening in Norris Elementary and Mrs. Kris Morrison in Norris Intermediate. Her position was added due to student growth, as each building has over 500 students. Hajek will assist with a wide span of administrative and educational leadership duties, including teacher appraisal and student discipline, among other tasks. Hajek was selected from an applicant field of nearly fifty candidates vying for the position at Norris.

“I look forward to getting to know all the exceptional teachers, staff, students, and families and working together to provide outstanding educational experiences for the students within the Norris community," Hajek stated.  Eager to start, she offered, "I bring a variety of experiences that I will use in this leadership role to serve and best meet the needs of the Norris community staff and students.”  

Hajek currently serves as the District Instructional Specialist for the Seward Public Schools, where she has acquired administrative skills and facilitated interventions for students in core areas and student behavior. She has been in this leadership position in Seward the past four years, and prior to that was a teacher and coach in Seward and in Bellevue, Nebraska. Describing her position in Seward, Hajek noted  that "The last four years as District Instructional Specialist, I assumed many leadership roles, such as facilitating teams and our intervention process along with strategic planning, curriculum, school improvement and professional development." 

Hajek is a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at Doane University, and possesses a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane. Her undergraduate studies earned her a teaching certification in mathematics and a Bachelor of Science degree. Brittany's husband Christopher works for Nestle Purina in Crete in the engineering controls department.  They have a five year old son, Alex and a two and a half year old daughter, Leah.  Their hobbies include golfing and vegetable gardening on the family farm.  

Brittany's additional areas of professional interest include instructional strategies, technology, staff development, reading and math interventions, and mentoring teachers.
