Boys soccer comes from behind to beat Blair

The Norris boys ended up on the winning side of a bruising match with the Blair Bears tonight with a 2-1 result. The Titans found themselves down after 12 minutes, as the Bears nodded in a cross from the corner. However, the boys came out more poised in the second half, retaining possession of the ball much better and creating some dangerous chances. Their hard work paid off when, six minutes from time, goalkeeper Jake Kuhn punted the ball out past half where Ramiro Gonzalez won an aerial battle to head the ball to LaRoy Cobb. Cobb’s first touch led him into the space behind the defense, leaving him only the keeper to beat. His goal sparked the team to press for the winner in regulation time. With less than a minute remaining, Nick Hoover had the ball and two defenders to beat to get into the box. After splitting the two, he was recognized for his efforts by being harshly taken down in the box, with one of the Blair players being shown a yellow card. LaRoy Cobb stepped up to take the resulting penalty kick with 40 seconds left, and buried it for the win.Norris now sits at 3-2 after wins against Nebraska City, Seward, and Conestoga, and close extra-time losses to Lincoln Lutheran and Elkhorn. Blair falls to 4-1 for the season. Next up for the Titans is Plattsmouth on Thursday night.
