B-3 DISTRICT TRACK AND FIELD MEET

The B-3  Distract Track and Field Meet was held May 12th at Seward Concordia University.  The meet fielded 11 teams from around the area in their endeavor to qualify for the State Meet to be held this coming Friday and Saturday at Burke Stadium in Omaha.  Below are the final team finishes, followed by the individual results of the Norris girl's team.Team places:  1st Seward 128, 2nd Beatrice 82, 3rd Fairbury 72,  4th  Wahoo 65, 5th Crete 52, 6th NORRIS 43, 7th Bishop Neumann 32, 8th Raymond Central 18, 9th David City 17, 10th Milford 12, and 11th Lincoln Lutheran 6Long Jump:  Holly Schurman 15'.5", Ellie Ehman 13'11.5", and Hannah Olsen FoulTriple Jump:  6th Leah Burbach 34.25", Holly Schurman 32'1", and Andrea Jameson 31'10.25"High Jump:  4th Andrea Jameson 4'10", Hannah Hoefler 4'6", and Ellie Ehman DHShot Put:  5th Michaela Woodward PR 35'7.25", Felicia TeKolste 33'2", and Niki McKinstry 30'0"Discus:  5th Niki McKinstry 112'6", Michaela Woodward 97'3", and Leah Harms 89'8"Pole Vault:  5th Erin Bartlett 8'6", Cassie Eilers 8'0", and Anna Bizal NH100m HH:  District Champion and setting a new school record, also qualifiying for State  Gretchen Kroese 15.0, Maddie Larson 17.3, and Kenzie Doeschot 17.5100m Dash:  Gretchen Kroese 13.2 (8th in finals), Holly Schurman 13.3, and Hannah Olsen 13.4200m Dash:  6th Hannah Blythe 28.4, Ellie Ehman 28.9, and Sierra Eason DNP300m LH: 4th and qualifying for State  Gretchen Kroese 47.6, Makenna Tracy PR 51.9, and Maddie Larson 54.1400m Dash:  Marisa Moseman PR 1:04.0, Hannah Hoefler PR 1:05.8, and Dani Pelini 1:09.7800m Run:  Ashley Weyers 2:34.0, Kelly DeBoer PR 2:33.4, and Amber Weyers 2:46.51600m Run:  Amber Weyers PR 6:18, Meradith Ganow DQ, and Sophia Sonenberg DQ3200m Run:  2nd and qualifying for State Sophia Sonenberg PR 12:00.1, Chelsi Marolf 14:11400m Relay:  PR and qualifying for State 51.4  Holly Schurman, Hannah Blythe, Hannah Olsen, and Gretchen Kroese1600m Relay:  7th overall  4:20.1  Ashley Weyers, Hannah Hoefler, Marisa Moseman, and Kelly DeBoer3200m Relay:  PR and qualifying for State 10:05.4  Ashley Weyers, Sophia Sonenberg, Meradith Ganow, and Kelly DeboerWe will have eight girls traveling to Omaha this week-end and competing in 5 events.  Senior Gretchen Kroese will be going in 3 events the 100m HH, the 300m LH, and the 400m relay, she became the B-3 District 100m HH champion last week and also broke our school record by running a 15.0 time, her goal is to break the 15.0 barrier. We had to wait to see if we got our 3200m relay and 400m relay team in after the other Districts posted their times.  We were pretty sure we had our 3200m relay team in right away after running our season's best.  We took an additional 12 seconds off our best from the week before.  We hadn't taken below a 2nd place finish all season, but was seated 4th in our Districts.  Our 4x100 also posted their season's best time of 51.4 and took a 4th place finish.  We had to wait for the B-6 Districts to complete their meet on Friday after having their meet delayed due to weather.  The girls on the 4 x 800 are Ashley Weyers, Sophia Sonenberg, Meradith Ganow, and Kelly DeBoer.  The girls on the 4 x 100 are Holly Schurman, Hannah Blythe, Hannah Olsen, and Gretchen Kroese.Also. qualifying for the State Meet is Sophomore Sophia Sonenberg who ran her competition down in the final 300m of the 3200m run.  She ran a gutsy race and took off 19 seconds from her previous personal best time ran the week before.We had several other girls who recorded their personal best at the meet, Freshmen Michaela Woodword threw the shot 35'7.25" and Amber Weyers finished with her fastest time in the 1600m run.  Sophomore Makenna Tracy ended her season with her fastest time in the 300m LH.  We want  to thank all the ladies for competing and finishing out their season at this meet.The girls will be competing in Omaha at the 2nd session on Friday afternoon.  Our competition will begin at 3:30 with the 3200m relay team starting on the track first.  Between the girl's and the boy's teams we will be competing in every event except the 400m Dash on Friday evening.  Thanks to all who came out and supported us this season.
