5 Titans Score in Win over Waverly

Norris  =       4        3                  =     7Waverly=     1         0                 =     1Before kick off, there was a 3 way tie for 3rd place seeding for the EMC soccer tournament.  Two teams will remain tied with records of 8-3 and one team will end up 5th seeded with a record of 7-4, by the time conference seeding is determined.  Norris, Platteview, and Plattsmouth are  all vying for a 3rd seed and a chance to play at home in the first round of the tournament.The Titans took care of business tonight.  Just 6 minutes into the match Sam Areman recieved a corner kick from teammate Brittany Cvitak who served in a ball that Areman headed into goal.  "It was a gorgeous serve and a fantastic finish.  Sam got right in front of a defender and the goal keeper." said Myers.  In the 10th minute, Jordan Funk finished with a well-timed header off a cross from outside defensive back  Maddie MacDonald.  In the 14th minute, Julia Krueger who is our long throw-in specialist, was able to get a pass back on a throw-in and shot what appeared to be a crossed-ball but bent it into goal.  At the 23rd minute, sophomore Sarah Pence got a crossed ball inside the six box for senior Rachel Hansen  to put the Titans up 4-0, with just a little over 16 minutes remaining in the first half.Waverly was persistant and was able to score in the 32nd minute.  Valerie Hernandez shot a ball just inside the far right side of the 18 box.  The ball had enough bend on it that it hit the back post and ricocheted in.  The Titans were up 4-1 at half time.In the second half of play Rachel Hansen would score 2 more goals. One in the 42nd minute, off a low crossed ball by teammate Alex Mathers.  In the 65th minute, sophomore Kayla German lofted a cross from the right side of the box that Hansen volleyed into goal.  Julia Krueger finished off the scoring in the 72nd minute, when she received a cleared ball from Waverly and shot a lofted ball over the keeper's outstretched hands.In the junior varsity game, Norris JV was victorious winning 4-0.
