Titans Clinch Victory in OT!

The Norris 8th grade football team took the field yesterday against the Waverly Vikings and came out on top in a closely-contested overtime victory.  Waverly scored first, with a long touchdown run by their quarterback.  The Titans were able to even up the score, however, when an option pitch to Jay Knudsen resulted in a 30 yard touchdown run.  Cade Argo steamrolled ahead on a screen pass and successful two-point conversion, which evened up the score at 8-8 before half.  In the second half, Norris struck first on a long run by Drew Reetz.  After a near-catch on the two-point conversion, the Titans took the lead until Waverly was able to score another touchdown to tie it up in regulation.  Penalties backed up the Norris offense during the first possession of overtime, but a breakaway run and subsequent two-point conversion by Drew Reetz put the game in the hands of the defense.  With the Titans up by 8, the defense was able to stuff the Vikings and force a fumble, ending the game in victory for the Norris 8th graders.  When asked to comment on the game, Coach Murtaugh stated, "the players really battled hard and never gave up...I am proud of their progress and efforts so far this season."  The 7th and 8th grade football teams will take on Plattsmouth next Tuesday (8th Away/7th Home).
