We had quite a few season’s personal best marks today, something that definitely needs to be happening this time of the year, and the warmer temperatures helped make this happen.
Our sprinters had a really good meet, and having all three of the 200m runners qualify for finals, and having two of them place, was a neat thing for them to have happen. These three ladies are only Freshmen and Sophomores, so we think that they can continue to getter stronger and faster. Freshman, Kenzie Roy won the 200 with a PR and also took a 4th place finish in the 100m dash.
Sophomore, Kelly Helmberger did well in the 1600, 3200, and ran a strong leg in the 4x800, also, Freshman Cassie Barber, placed in the 3200 and ran well in the 4x800.
Sophomore, Valerie Gabel ran her best time in the 100m highs, and also came home with a medal, while Juniors, Kaitlyn Tracy and Hannah Gutzmer ran their personal best in the 300’s.
Junior, Kelsey DeJonge continues to score in the discus in our field events.
Our underclassmen continue to make improvements, and we hope that by the end of the season we will see several more of them placing at meets.
Our JV’s will travel to Plattsmouth on Monday, and then next Saturday our varsity will go to York for their invitational. Meet time, 10:00 for field events and 12:00 for running events.
