Cal Leising competed in the Nebraska Class B State Golf Tournament held at Indianhead Golf Course in Grand Island May 28, 29.

On Wednesday Cal shot 39 - 41 for an 80 and a tie for 35th place after the first round.

On Thursday Cal Leising shot 38 - 40 for a 78 and a two day total of 158 which had him tied for 32nd out of a field of 72 golfers. 

Playing pretty steady on the front nine on Thursday - Cal had 5 pars, 1 birdie and 3 bogeys.

He missed a short putt on # 10 for a par and started his back nine 1 over. He birdied the par 4 11th and followed that up with another birdie on the par 5 12th. The next two holes are ones that Cal wishes he could replay as he had to scramble to make a double bogey on the par 4, 13th. His second shot ended up right next to an out of bounds fence which restricted his back swing - he did a great job to adance the ball and get it close to the green. But a chip and two putts later he walked off 13 back at +1 for his second nine. The next hole, a par 3 almost completely surrounded by water saw Cal's tee shot land left of the green and in the water. From the drop zone Cal's chip was a little short leaving a lengthy putt attempt which Cal was unable to get as close as he would have liked leaving him a testy putt for double - which lipped out - leaving him with a triple bogey on that hole.

In spite of the struggles of those two holes, Cal did not give up. He birdied the next hole, giving him 3 birdies over a 5 hole stretch. He followed that with a couple more pars and a bogey on #18.

For the day, Cal was 6 over par, 5 of which came on that two hole stretch. We are really proud of the way he represented himself and Norris. We are Looking for great things from Cal Leising in the next two years for Norris Golf.
