Titans cruise to homecoming win over Columbus

James Kruger breaks school single game rushing record previously set by him.  He had rushed for 231 yards vs. Nebraska City in 2011...Tonight James rushed for 254 yards vs. Columbus High School breaking his old record.  James shares all of his accolades with his offensive linemen.  James has a great group of guys getting it done and finishing each play up front.  Our offensive linemen are:  Luke Monhollon, Jake Bornschlegl, Jordan Vietz, Jared Anderson, Terrill Murray, Taylor Doeschot, AJ Cook, Jared Leisemeyer, Tony Mainelli, Nolan Gloe, Preston Price, & Josh Gutzmer.

We won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half thus allowing us to kick off and get great field position for our defense.  Our defense was able to consistently get 3 straight 3 downs and out series of plays making Columbus punt and give Norris the short field.  Our offense was able to convert all of these short field opportunities into TouchDowns making the first quarter score 21-0.  "That is the start of a football game you strive to have were the defense and special teams are getting the offense the short field, and then the offense quickly strikes taking advantage of the scoring opportunities."

We believe the kids bounced back in a very positive fashion this past week.  Our JV team won 45-6 over the Lincoln Southeast High School reserve team to start the week in a positive manner.  Our kids had a great week of practice.  We are proud of our kids with how they handled all of the activities involved with homecoming, while also having the ability to stay focused on our football goals in the process.

We tell the kids to get as involved in the Homecoming Week's activities as much as they each personally want to....but to make sure from 3:50-6:00 our focus shifts solely on our football preparation...and then when practice is over to feel free to again enjoy as much of the homecoming experience as possible.  Our kids did this, and managed to make the entire week a successful situation.

Not all kids have the ability to keep a great focus like that , and we are proud of their ability to do so as well as their maturity level to want to do so.

We now turn our preparation and attention to our JV game with Nebraska City at Home on Monday.  Our 9th grade football game with nebraska city at home on thursday, and our varsity game at home with Blair on Friday night.  It should be a great week for our football program!!!
