Differentiated Literature (Diff Lit)

This course focuses on literature and builds on the concepts learned in the 10th grade differentiated class. It covers basic high school English skills, such as grammar and usage, high-level vocabulary. Students will learn how to write literary analysis essays, as well as participate in a variety of writing activities, such as reader responses, writing-reading checks, and poetry.

The reading materials for this course includes modern and “classic” fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and choice reading. Students will be expected to complete a comprehensive author study. Students will also spend a portion of the course preparing for the ACT assessment in the spring.
