MUSIC PROGRAM – THURSDAY, APRIL 10

GRADE 1 – 7:00 p.m. and GRADE 2 – 7:30 p.m.

Dear Parents,

Mark Your Calendars! We will be having a Spring Concert on Thursday, April 10th in the High School Auditorium. The students are very excited about this opportunity and have been working so hard to prepare a fun evening’s entertainment for you.

When and Where – 1st Grade:  All 1st grade students should meet in the High School South Gym at 6:45 p.m.  Please do not drop off children earlier because they will be unsupervised.  The auditorium will open at 6:40 for parents to be seated and the performance will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Following the 1st grade performance, pick up your child from their classroom teacher in the High School Gym.  Please make sure that the classroom teacher knows your child is leaving with you. We want to ensure the safety of all the children.

When and Where – 2nd Grade:  All 2nd grade students should meet in the High School South Gym at 7:15 p.m.  Please do not drop off children earlier because they will be unsupervised. Parents of 2nd grade students may be seated in the auditorium following the 1st grade performance.  Please do not enter the auditorium when the 1st grade program is in progress. This can be very distracting to the children.  Following the 2nd grade performance, pick up your child from their classroom teacher in the High School Gym. Please make sure that the classroom teacher knows your child is leaving with you. We want to ensure the safety of all children.

Auditorium Seating:  So that there will be ample seating for parents and guests, the program has been divided into a 1st grade program and a 2nd grade program.  It will be very helpful if families only attend their child’s program.  I have included the stage blocking for each class.  Classes on the far right of stage can be most easily viewed from the left side of the auditorium.  Classes on the far left of stage can be most easily viewed from the right side of the auditorium.  The middle classes can be viewed well from anywhere.

Attendance:  Each student is important to the success of this event.  However, if unavoidable conflicts do happen, please notify me by email as soon as possible.  You may also call me, call the elementary office, or send a note.  Thank you so much.

What to Wear:  Learning about appropriate attire for special events is important. Students are to wear nice clothes for the performance.  Girls look very nice in dresses or skirts. In order to wear spaghetti straps, a girl must wear a shirt with wide straps or sleeves under it or a shirt/top over it.  Boys should wear shirts with sleeves and nice long pants. The children really enjoy wearing their finest.

Videos and Photography:  Please do not take flash photos during the performances.  This is very distracting to the student performers on stage.  A time will be provided at the end for anyone desiring to come forward and take flash photographs.

Performance Etiquette:  As part of our music curriculum, students learn about appropriate manners on stage and in the audience.  Please help us reinforce these important behaviors. The things we have been learning include no talking during performance, not leaving until the end of the program, not distracting performers in any way, and applauding appropriately (no shouting and whistling).

Thank you so much.  Your help and support in making this a memorable and rewarding musical experience for the children is much appreciated.  It is inspiring to be a part of so many children working together in such a positive way.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
