Camp Invention

Are you interested in developing your leadership skills through formalized training, and practical experience? Would you enjoy helping children explore the process of taking an idea and turning it into an invention?

At Camp Invention children are presented with fun, hands-on challenges that encourage creative problem solving, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Camp invention is led by experienced local educators and new curriculum is introduced each year, inspired by the Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame! Get ready to reinvent volunteering by participating in our Leadership Intern program! Leadership Interns work closely with K-6 grade Camp Invention participants to help them learn, think creativity and develop their innovation skills to help invent a better tomorrow. This volunteer position is designed exclusively for current high school and college students.

For completing this fun filled week, you will receive a letter of recognition from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, 40 service learning hours, and specialized training in Intellectual Property Literacy. I'll be happy to walk you through the process. We're looking forward to a great summer!

End-of-Year Technology Announcements:

Students leaving the district:  We will be removing you from the network and removing your Google Apps accounts shortly after school is out.  You may want to visit this helpful website, for moving data and information out of Google Apps:http://www.norris160.org/resourcesgoogle-apps/leaving-google (There is a link to this page from the Norris Home Page, Google Apps site.)

Reminder to all students: We will be removing your network accounts over the summer, and adding you back to the network. You will be keeping your same network ID and password, but any files you have on the Z drive will be lost, so we recommend that you make a backup to a flash drive, or into your Google Drive prior to the start of the summer.

All student Google Accounts (Other than Sr’s and other students leaving the district) will remain in place each year.  You will have access to all Google Apps content 24x7 as long as you remain a Norris student. Remember, all content is accessible by school personnel when deemed necessary. Make sure you practice proper digital citizenship and use this account for school purposes only.

All 9-11 students concerning Chromebooks:  We will not be checking in Chromebooks over the summer, but we will be doing an in-class Chromebook check-up prior to last day of school. Any damages must be fixed prior to the checkup.  If you have any equipment issues with your Chromebook, please stop by Mr. Gault’s office as soon as possible to get those repairs done prior to the check-up and end of school. (Any screen cracks, screen detachments, plastic cracks/breaks, etc… need to be fixed ASAP.) This will also make sure you have a useable Chromebook for over the summer.

Since this is a school-issued device, remember that all internet and other device usage will continue to be monitored over the summer and addressed with school administration and parents
