ANNOUNCEMENTS:

School pictures are tomorrow!  Seniors you are reminded that you will need to get your picture taken by the photographer (this will go on your official transcript that we send to colleges).

Class Meetings will be held tomorrow to discuss upcoming homecoming meetings.  Please report to IAP first and then go to the following rooms:

  • ~ 9th – MPR
  • ~10th – North Gym
  • ~11th – South Gym
  • ~12th – Auditorium

Any student may join FCCLA by attending a meeting today at 9:30-9:50.  Meet in Mrs. Price's room in the middle school.  Bring $13.00 for national dues if you haven't already paid last spring.

Volleyball t-shirts are in – stop by the high school office.

The Norris FFA and Student Council are having a food drive this Friday at the football game.  Bring canned food and “fill the Ford Truck.”  Bring three or more items and receive a ticket for a free bag of popcorn.

The Girls Golf Team won their dual with the Waverly Girls Golf Team.  Norris scored 193 to Waverly's 222 for the varsity competition.  The Junior Varsity beat Waverly 241 to 249.  Leading the way for the Titans was Ashlyn Hoegh with a score of 40.  Other Norris scores were Katie Fosler (49), Anna Doeschot (52), Maddie Gabel (52), Michelle Delgado (52), Sidney Skow (54), Sophie Kisling (56), Jessica Lingenfelter (65), and Kelli Doeschot (66).

Nebraska Community Blood Bank BLOOD DRIVE!  
Students (17 years old and weighing at least 115 lbs) ... are encouraged to “keep the beat alive” by donating blood on September 6 from 10:30 a.m. -3:30 p.m. As a thank you, all those registering to donate at the first NHS blood drive will receive a “Keeping the Beat Alive” t-shirt. Each and every donation will not only help critically ill patients, but also raise scholarship dollars for NHS through the NCBB Educational Scholarship Program. The program has been awarding scholarship funds to high schools based on the success of their blood drive(s) since 2004. Last year, NHS hosted four successful blood drives and received over 2,000 dollars in scholarship funds.Reserve a spot to donate today! To schedule an appointment and pick up a Parent Permission Form, contact Mrs. O’Connor in the Guidance office. Anyone interested in participating in Mock Trial this year should sign the roster outside of Mr. Koenig's room.

GUIDANCE OFFICE INFO:

Sophomores and Juniors:  Look for the opportunity to sign up for taking the PSAT at Norris (October 17th).  See your IAP teacher for details.

Juniors and Seniors in Dual Credit/College Credit Courses:  ACE Scholarship Registration for the Fall semester (now) is now open.  Stop in this week to the CC to apply online.   

ACE Scholarships criteria:  

  • *Qualify for free/reduced lunch program
  • *Have a hardship (ex: parent losing job, extreme illness in parent, etc)
  • *Documentation needed (physician's note, written statement, free/reduced lunch letter)

COLLEGE VISITS:  (Sign up on guidance bulletin board in senior hallway)

  • UNL – Tuesday, September 25th during IAP
  • UNK - Wednesday, September 26th during IAP
