This week is deemed Respect Week by the National Campaign for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Don't forget to wear ORANGE ON TODAY, and then snap pictures to post on the official Facebook page for Wear Orange Day!! Come on Norris... let's represent!! Shocking statistics related to teen dating violence: (see http://www.teendvmonth.org/research for more statistics and references)
- Nearly 1.5 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner in a single year.
- Girls and young women between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest rate of intimate partner violence, almost triple the national average.
- Violent relationships in adolescence can have serious ramifications by putting the victims at higher risk for substance abuse, eating disorders, risky sexual behavior and further domestic violence.

Blood Drive -- Blood donors are needed for the next blood drive, scheduled for Wednesday, February 19, 10:30-4 in the Blood Mobile (it will be parked on the east side of the high school). You must be 17 years old and weigh at least 115 lb to donate. Photo ID and parent permission form required! See Mrs. O'Connor if you have questions or need a parent permission form.

Ready, Set, Go!! Scheduling time for students.
- After your class has heard the presentation, you will have live access to complete your pre-registration sheet online (see your Google drive; from Shirley Laflin).
- Use the tools at hand (Guidance webpage, Scheduling Tools) to find out what courses are available, what the course description is, graduation requirements, UNL requirements, etc.
- Talk to your teachers for recommendations. English and Math MUST have matching recommendations on your sheet, as what your teachers have entered in PowerSchool.
- Science selections depends on prerequisites and grades.
- Don't forget to include your parents in this process... they will also be able to see it online with you.
- All pre-registration online forms must be completed (and corrected if necessary) by 10 p.m. Monday February 17th.

Buy your sweetheart a rose and a sucker for Valentine's Day! Spanish Club members are selling roses and lip suckers with a special message in Spanish for you to give to your sweetheart, friend or family member for $5.00! Find a Spanish Club member if interested or e-mail Mrs. Good at megan.good@nsdtitans.org.
Boys interested in playing soccer this spring, please sign-up on the sheet in the high school office by February 24th. If you have any questions, see Coach Talero in room E9.
Girls Soccer t-shirts for sale – forms in the high school office. Money and forms are due by Thursday, February 13th.
Recruiting for Yearbook Staff – Scheduling for next year will begin soon. If you are considering Yearbook as an elective, then you need to fill out an application and be accepted prior to filling out your schedule. Application materials can be found on the Yearbook page on the district website. In addition to the application, you need three teacher recommendation forms filled out. Turn all materials in to Mrs. Coady (S4) on or beforeThursday, February 13th to be considered.
Group Picture Day – Mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 18th. If you are in an organization or activity, Martin Photography will be in the auditorium to take pictures for the 2014 Yearbook. Schedules are posted around the school, in each classroom, and in the Yearbook section of the district website. So, check the time slot for your group and be in uniform, if applicable. Also, any student photographed in a group they are not involved in will be contacted and subjected to disciplinary consequences.
Going, going, gone! – If you have not ordered a 2014 Yearbook, the price is now $75, but time is running out. No orders will be taken after March 1st. Order online from the link on the district website or www.yearbookforever.com.

Team Mates Fundraiser
Interested in old cars? Team Mates is hosting a fundraiser at an extraordinary local car museum.
Kuck Motorsports Museum is a private collection of automobiles owned by Gary and Susan Kuck, and their son Scott. The museum is open by special group invitation only and is not open to the general public. This collection includes a wide variety of automobiles ranging from turn of the 20th century antiques, muscle cars, and race cars. Also included is a collection of vehicles and memorabilia from the 1960s TV show “Batman.” Many areas are decorated in a way to fit the time period of the cars. The fundraiser will support scholarships for our TeamMates mentees. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. The event takes place Saturday, April 26th from 5 to 9 P.M. Tickets and the address are only available from: Ruby Deunk in the Norris High School office, MaryAnn Franken in the Intermediate school office, and at selected Norris events from Team Mates board members.
