TODAY’S ACTIVITIES:

Circle of Friends will meet in Dr. Schlieder's room during IAP

District Track Meet @ Beatrice

Tennis @ Waverly Invite

There will be a meeting for all 2019-2020 cheerleaders with the new cheer sponsor on Friday during IAP in the high school conference room.

Seniors who have filled out the senior survey may stop in the Counseling Center during IAP (or their unassigned time) starting today to pick up their folder.

Students - We have a limited number (30 units) of Acer C720 Chromebooks for sale.  They have been updated to the current version of Chrome and our student tech team has gone through them for any major issues. These devices are available for $25 on a first come basis. (Note: These devices should be useable for another year or more but will not receive new Chrome updates after this summer. They will function fine, but the Chrome OS will be on a selected version.)

Upcoming College Visits During IAP:

SCC ~ Friday, May 10

UNL ~ Monday, May 13

Senior Chromebook and Charger check-in schedule:

(Note - There is no Chromebook buy-back option available to seniors this year.)

  • Monday, May 13th (8am - 4:00pm) - Mr. Gault's Office

  • Tuesday, May 14th (8am - 4:00pm) - Mr. Gault's Office

  • Wednesday, May 15 (during the normal check-out process) - HS Media Center

At these times we will be checking operational conditions of the Chromebook and Charger.  Units will need to be charged so that we can test the trackpad, power button, and operating system.  In addition, we will look at the condition of the screen and chassis for damage. Please update your Chromebook to the current Chrome version.

To streamline this process, we would like any senior that has a known issue with their Chromebook or charger to stop by Mr. Gault’s office as soon as possible to get these issues resolved before the checkout process begins.  There will be a $5 charge (in addition to the cost of repair) on any device that is turned in on Wednesday, May 15th with visible damage and/or operating issues.  Report any issues/damage early to avoid this additional cost.

Students Graduating and/or leaving the district:  We will be removing you from the network and removing your Google Apps accounts shortly after school is out.  This document should assist you with transferring your Google Documents and files:https://bit.ly/LeaveNorris

Reminder to all students: We will be removing your network accounts over the summer, and adding you back to the network. You will be keeping your same network ID and password, but any files you have on the Z drive will be lost, so we recommend that you make a backup to a flash drive, or into your Google Drive prior to the start of the summer. (Most students no longer keep files on the Z drive - but some classes still have you save a file to the network drive.)

All student Google Accounts (Other than Sr’s and other students leaving the district) will remain in place each year.  You will have access to all Google Apps content 24x7 as long as you remain a Norris student. Remember, all content is accessible by school personnel when deemed necessary. Make sure you practice proper digital citizenship and use this account for school purposes only.

All 9-11 students concerning Chromebooks:  We will not be checking in Chromebooks over the summer, but we will be doing an in-class Chromebook check-up prior to the last day of school. Any damages must be fixed prior to the checkup.  If you have any equipment issues with your Chromebook, please stop by Mr. Gault’s office as soon as possible to get those repairs done prior to the check-up and end of school. (Any screen cracks, screen detachments, plastic cracks/breaks, etc… need to be fixed ASAP.) This will also make sure you have a useable Chromebook for over the summer.

Since this is a school-issued device, remember that all internet and other device usages will continue to be monitored over the summer and addressed with school administration and parents.
