| For a look at some ancient Nebraska history we visited
Ashfall Fossil Beds in northeastern Nebraska near a town named Royal. About ten
milliion years ago hundreds of animals were buried near a watering hole by a storm of
volcanic ash. This is the Visitor Center at Ashfall. In the early 1970's
paleontologist, Mike Voorhies, from the University of Nebraska, discovered a baby
rhino skull and excavation began. |
