Home Town: I was raised on a farm at Eddyville, NE and  graduated from Sumner-Eddyville-Miller District 101R.  This is near Kearney.
Year you entered the teaching profession: I began my career teaching Kindergarten at Creighton in 1976.  I re-entered the profession after being home with children in 1989 at Norfolk, NE     I taught 13 years in first and second grade.   I was a literacy consultant for 3 years for the Norfolk Public Schools District.  While living in Norfolk I taught graduate classes for Doane and Wayne State  and I taught an undergraduate distance learning class for Northeast Community college.
Degrees Held & Institution Received From:
I have a Bachelor of Science from UNL with a dual degree of Elementary Education and Human Development with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education.  I have a master degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College
Favorite thing about teaching: I love watching children learn and become independent learners.  When a child discovers they have the ability to learn it is the greatest feeling in the world.

Strategies

A child not reading has not found the right book.
