Second grade Social Studies focuses on 3 world habitats - forest, polar regions & rain forests - with an emphasis on plants, animals, geography & people of these regions.  also studied are the contributions of numerous historical figures & events.  Basic mapping skills are introduced.

Writing activities include: 

  *  Class books & individual papers are written & illustrated to review information taught.
  *  Child respond in writing as a culminating or assessment activity at the end of each unit of study.

Multicultural education activities include:

  *  Numerous genres including biographies are read.
  *  Students research historical figures & events.
  *  Students compare & contrast different cultures.
