Science As Inquiry The learner will be able to identify the steps on the scientific method. (4.2.1) The learner will be able to demonstrate the process of the scientific method by recording data pertaining to an experiment. Life Science: The learner will be able to describe a forest, rain forest & polar habitat, including plants, animals, trees & products The learner will be able to identify & relate to their daily lives natural resources found in a forest, rain forest, & polar habitat. The learner will be able to list 3 characteristics & give an example of each of the following animal groups: mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, & insects. Earth Science: The learner will be able to define a fossil as the mark or remains of a plant or animal having lived a very long time ago. The learner will be able to identify 3 examples of natural resources. The learner will be able to describe the earth's revolution around the sun and the rotation on it's axis (day & night). Physical Science: The learner will be able to define matter as anything that takes up space & has weight. The learner will be able to define the 3 states of matter: solid, liquid, & gas. Social Perspectives: The learner will be able to explain the benefits of wellness as they relate to nutrition, exercise, sight, hearing, dental health, & personal hygiene. The learner will be able to label & describe the parts of the eye (i.e. iris, pupil, cornea, lens, nerve to the brain, and retina). The learner will be able to label & describe the following parts of the ear (i.e. outer ear, ear canal, ear drum, 3 bones, cochlea, & the nerve to the brain). History & Nature of Science: The learner will be able to describe the contributions from a variety of men & women in the sciences from diverse cultures. The learner will be able to explain how a timeline works & use it to answer questions about individuals & events. Science & Technology: The learner will be able to use tools & equipment to gather & interpret data (i.e. microscope, thermometer, scales-mass/weight, linear, volume, graphing). The learner will be able to access & communicate information through the use of computers (i.e. internet sites, software, multimedia). Great Science web sites to visit:
