- Math 2 is taught 60 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
- 15 Minutes each day on Arithmetic Developed Daily.
This is a daily,
consistent maintenance program that contains mixed skills and a wide
variety of computational and problem-solving challenges.
- Calendar activities are also part of the math program, which is
an
additional 15 minutes a day.
- This year we will use the Otter Creek\Rocket Math Facts,
beginning with addition, moving on to subtraction and possibly the next step
of multiplication.
- The program concentrates mainly on the following math concepts:
* math facts in addition and
subtraction up to 18
* place value
* adding and subtracting 2
digit numbers with and without regrouping
* telling time
* money skills
- Writing activities include:
* writing their own story
problems
* writing their method of
solving a variety of math problems
* writing their solutions to
daily word problems in a sentence
- Multicultural activities include:
* counting to 10 in Spanish
* reading names from different
cultures in word problems
