Elkhorn Continues Its Run

For the second straight year, the Norris Quizbowl Team brought home the EMC Runner-Up trophy from Plattsmouth. In the sixteen-team tournament held, Monday, March 17, 2003, Norris rebounded from an early loss and climbed all the way back through the elimination bracket to the finals. In the finals, the Titans ran into the amazing group from Elkhorn, losing by the score of 205-90. The Norris A team, comprised of James Miller, John Miller, Tim Boender and Jared Wiggins finished the day with a combined record of six wins against two losses.

Every member of the team contributed substantially producing a very balanced scoresheet. Individually, Norris was led by captain James Miller, who answered a total of 27 tossups on the day. Jared Wiggins answered 19, John Miller answered 18 and Tim Boender responded first on 8 questions.

The Norris B team, which included Joel Keralis, Adam Brazee, Justin Clay, and Evan Brunkow posted a 95-10 win against the Nebraska City B team before being eliminated by the Norris A team by the score of 140-65. The B team lost their first round match to Platteview A by the score of 105-45. The Norris B team was led by Joel Keralis, who answered 13 tossups in three matches.
