Pi One of the most interesting number to consider is "pi", normally known as a value around 3.14. Pi is derived from the relationship of circumference of a circle to its diameter. If you carefully measure the circumference of several circles and then measure their respective diameters, the ratio of C/d will approach 3.14. Thus we can derive the corollary that C = 3.14 * d. Pi is also used in calculating the area of a circle. But pi is not just used in circles. As a matter of fact, it pops up in quite a few places. |
