Lego Logo Camp, Summer 2000

Lego Logo is a computer language that drives Lego robotics.  Norris Middle School won a grant a while ago (1997-98) of $10,000 from the Toyota T.I.M.E. grants to buy equipment.  The students build predetermined figures with the Lego pieces and then attach them to the computer via a control panel.  The figures have machines, gears, wires, lights, sound, etc. and the students have to program the computer to tell the pieces to turn on, off, spin, etc.  There are about 5 different sets of instructions to build different things.  We were also able to get the latest creation, "MindStorms", with the movable, robotic control center (RCX).

We have 4 sets of the Control Systems, 4 sets of the Control Lab,  plus 5 sets in the elementary building called "Intelligent House".

We also were given 9 laptop computers by Ameritas Corporation in Lincoln, 6 different laptops from State Farm to run the Lego equipment, and 5 more computers from Smith-Hayes Financial Corporation of Lincoln.

There are several kits that the students can put together.  View them by clicking here..
