Googol Once upon a time someone asked a young boy about naming a big number (I'll get the story straight ASAP). The boy responded that he called it a "googol". A googol is defined as 10 to the 100th power. That means, write a 1 with 100 zeroes behind it. A million has 6 zeroes, a billion has 9 zeroes, a trillion has 12 zeroes, and a quadrillion has 15 zeroes. You have to go another 85 places! A googolplex is 10 to the googol power. WOW! Now, think about that. There is a googol of zeroes behind the one! Whatever number you come up with for a googol when you write it all out, that number is how many zeroes behind the one! It has no real value to life but it does have a name! |
