Norris Middle School Talent Show
Great news! Miss Fry
(5th grade) has agreed to organize a 7th and 8th grade Talent Show. It
will probably occur in February with tryouts in late January!
Mr. Price
and various helpers
coordinate the show. A wide variety of acts are welcome, including vocals,
instrumentals, comedy, lip syncs, juggling, dances, drama, etc.
The goal is to show off the wonderful talents of our students on our beautiful
stage. The show usually lasts about 1.5 hours and also uses the talents of our students as
the masters of ceremonies. If you would like to see how your act can
have a better chance of qualifying, go down to the bottom of this page.

Helpful suggestions
for tryouts to help get
your act into the Talent Show: 1. Smile! Have
fun! Don't frown!
2. Be prepared. Practice your parts. Have your lines or music
memorized.
3. Do not sing with the vocalist. Have your accompaniment or the
background music,
but please do not try to sing over the original
singer.
A lip sync is different: it is intended to mimic the singer
and use their voice.
4. Have complete costumes.
5. Use your arms and your body. Just standing there does not
entertain anyone!
6. Bring your own props.
Do not count on the theater department
to have things for you.
7. Be original. We see a lot of acts. How is your act
different? We
can only take
so many piano players and so many dancers! How
about
juggling? How about comedy? the flute? the
trumpet?
8. We look for acts from every grade. If you are a 6th grader, do
not
compare yourself
to an 8th grader.
9. If you do not qualify the first year, try again!
10. We need about 10-12 Masters of Ceremonies every year. Try
out!
11. Speak loud, but do not shout. We need to hear you clearly.
12. After your act, graciously take a
bow.
For the Masters of Ceremonies (tryouts)
1. You will introduce the entire show.
2. You need to tell a joke (appropriate).
3. You will act out an improvisation scene that we give you. |
