Norris Preschool Program

Children ages 3 and 4 who live in the Norris school district are eligible to attend preschool.  Children who are eligible for kindergarten (5 years old on or before October 15th) are also eligible for preschool.  However, first consideration will be given to children who are not of kindergarten eligible age.  The primary purpose of the program is to provide services for children who have disabilities or developmental delays.  These children must qualify for services based on criteria set by the state.  Children who do not have disabilities or delays are also eligible to attend preschool.  We are able to enroll about 6-10 children without disabilities in preschool each year.  Children who qualify for services because of a disability or developmental delay are eligible to receive free transportation to and from preschool.  The school does not provide transportation for children who do not have disabilities or developmental delays.

If you are interested in having your child attend preschool and are not concerned that he/she might have a disability or developmental delay, please complete the Child Information Form and return it to Kathleen Gustin at Norris Elementary by April 15th.  You can print this form from home by clicking on the link on the right side of this page.  Preschool classes for the next school year are decided in May.  You will be notified at that time if your child has been selected to attend.  We usually receive more requests for enrollment than we are able to accept.  If that happens, children are selected randomly through a lottery system.

If you are concerned that your child may have delays in his/her development, click on "Make a Referral" on the main preschool page.
