Determining Eligibility for Early Childhood
Special Education Services
If you have concerns about your
child's development, the Norris preschool staff is available to help. The
first step is to make a referral. From there, preschool staff will
determine if your child is eligible for services. This process is
described below.

Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) meeting

If a child
qualifies for services, an IEP or IFSP is written that describes the child's
individual strengths, areas of need, and the type of services he/she
will receive. |

IEP's are
written for children ages 3-5. |

IFSP's are
written for children ages birth to 3. |

Parents are
involved in the writing of both IEP's and IFSP's. |
Services
 |
For children
ages birth to 3, services are typically provided in the child's home or
daycare. |

For children
ages 3-5, services can be provided in the Norris Preschool, in the child's
home or daycare, or other settings where the child spends time. |
